Kurukshetra district administration has applied for a Guinness World Record, an attempt to be made during the Yoga Maha Kumbh to be held on June 21 in which over 1 lakh people are expected to participate. The state-level International Yoga Day celebrations are scheduled to be held at Brahma Sarovar. Verma obtained information from Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh about all arrangements for Yoga Day celebrations and from Superintendent of Police Nitish Agarwal about the plan prepared for the security arrangements.

Verma said, “On Yoga Day, more than one lakh people will come together at the Brahma Sarovar. The district administration has also applied for a world record in the Guinness Book by doing yoga with discipline and observing protocol on June 21. Everyone has to make their contribution in making this record. The name of Kurukshetra as well as Haryana will be recorded in the Guinness World Records.”

“This is not an administrative programme, but a public event. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has been personally checking all preparations for the event. Efforts are being made to ensure maximum public participation. Whatever responsibility is given to officials, councillors and other institutions, has to be fulfilled with honesty. A world record can be established only by taking this responsibility seriously,” Verma said.

He said, “The Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) and Thanesar Municipal Council will arrange toilets. Apart from this, the work of levelling the mela ground will be done by the Municipal Council. Directions have been issued to ensure that all emergency and security arrangements are in place.” Verma said one T-shirt and one medicinal plant would be given to each person participating in the International Yoga Day celebrations in Kurukshetra.

These will include players, students, NCC and NSS cadets, youth and people from every section of society,” Verma said.
