Discipline builds character: Gujarat Governor
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has said the seriousness of thoughts and discipline were key to character building.
He was addressing a gathering on the sixth day of the university-level NSS camp at Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra. In his address, the Gujarat Governor said, “The age of adulthood is an age of gaining and learning new things, and building a foundation for one’s life. The seriousness of thoughts and discipline are key for character building.”
Highlighting the importance of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s contributions to women’s education and empowerment, he said, in Vedic times, women were honoured as education was epitomised by Goddess Saraswati, bravery by Goddess Durga and motherhood by ‘Jagatjanani’.
He said girls were excelling in all fields, stating that 80 per cent gold medallists at convocations were girls.
He exhorted students to follow Vedic culture and emphasised a healthy way of living and eating.
He exhorted volunteers to take up organic farming and make others aware of the benefits of healthy living.
Dr Rajendra Vidyalankar highlighted the Governor’s contributions to organic farming. Camp coordinator Dr Suman Rajan presented a complete description of the weekly camp, and presented a detailed account of the main activities of the camp. She said the camp was the epitome of women empowerment.
She added that all activities of the camp were based around its main theme “Youth for my Bharat and digital literacy”.
Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja also addressed the gathering at the event.
