Disgruntled BJP leader Karan Dev Kamboj to contest Assembly election as an Independent
After getting no positive response from Haryana election-co-incharge and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a meeting with him in New Delhi on September 6, the disgruntled BJP leader Karan Dev Kamboj has decided to contest the Assembly election as an Independent candidate.
He is yet to finalise whether he will contest the election from Radaur Assembly constituency of Yamunanagar district or Indri Assembly constituency of Karnal district.
After being denied the party ticket from Radaur, Kamboj resigned from the post of president of BJP OBC Morcha, Haryana, and other posts of the BJP on September 5.
He contested the Assembly election in 2019 from Radaur but was defeated by Congress’ Bishan Lal Saini.
He had contested and won the 2014 Assembly election from Indri. He was made the Haryana Minister of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affair and Forest.
Kamboj is unhappy after BJP decided to field former MLA Shyam Singh Rana from Radaur.
According to information, Kamboj held a meeting with his supporters in Radaur town on September 6.
Now, he will meet his supporters in Indri on September 10 to seek their opinion on whether he should fight from Radaur or Indri.
Karan Dev Kamboj had gone to New Delhi to meet Haryana election co-incharge and former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb on a message from CM Nayab Singh Saini.
“I met Biplab Kumar Deb in Delhi, but got no positive response pertaining to my ticket. Therefore, my supporters suggested I contest the election as an Independent candidate,” Kamboj told The Tribune over phone.
Kamboj hails from Mandhar village of Yamunanagar district and CM Nayab Singh Saini also visited his residence in the village to pacify him on September 5.
