The victim, Subhan Redhal, lodged a complaint with the police that on his Telegram app account in his mobile phone, he got a message in which he was offered a commission for spreading a message on various groups. The message asked him to join a group on January 22 and asked for his Paytm ID. Initially, the doctor got Rs 150 as commission. Gradually, he was asked to do different types of prepaid tasks and assured commission in return. The complainant said that he got a sum of Rs 12,250 on completion of such tasks. Later, the victim deposited Rs 22.64 lakh as a prepaid amount in anticipation of a good return. But when he did not get any response and the accused demanded another Rs 28 lakh via the app, the complainant realised he had been duped by them.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Raja Ram of the cyber-crime police station said they had started investigation in the matter.
