The Haryana State Medical Teachers’ Association (HSMTA) said in 2019, the university’s Executive Council had passed a proposal for rotatory headship and forwarded it to the Governor-cum-Chancellor, who also granted his consent, but the policy was yet to be implemented.

The association also stated in the memorandum that UGC regulations also provide for rotatory headship. Recently, the National Medical Commission also proposed the same.

“The execution of rotatory headship policy will not only increase transparency and equality in leadership within institutions, making the administrative structure more democratic but also provide opportunities for faculty members to advance, encouraging them to work with greater hard work and dedication, which will directly benefit the patients attending the institution,” said an office-bearer of the HSMTA.

Dr Aggarwal assured that he would consider the matter and make every effort to implement it. He said he would take further action after understanding the technical aspects. Faculty members warned that if rotatory headship was not implemented at the PGIMS Rohtak, they would not hesitate to launch an agitation.
