Gurugram: Doctor arrested for running clinic on fake MCI certificate

The Gurugram Police on Friday arrested a doctor for operating a clinic by fabricating a Medical Council of India (MCI) registration certificate and aiding in the abortion of an alleged rape victim. The accused was produced before a city court and sent to judicial custody.
Carried out rape victim’s ‘abortion’
- According to the police, a woman had filed a complaint against Veer, alias Naveen, for allegedly raping her and forcing her to get an abortion
- During the investigation, the police discovered that the doctor who had carried out the abortion process had a fake MCI certificate
- The suspect revealed that he had obtained an MBBS degree from China. After coming to India, he could not pass the MCI paper, so he made a fake registration certificate
- Recently, he had set up his own clinic ‘God Bless Health’
According to the police, a woman had filed a complaint against Veer, alias Naveen, for allegedly raping her and forcing her to get an abortion.
An FIR was registered on November 23, 2023 and the accused was arrested a month ago. During the investigation, the police discovered that the doctor who had carried out the abortion process had a fake MCI certificate.
Charged Rs 8K for it
The suspect used to run a clinic in Bhawani Enclave, Sector 9A, that had to be closed in November 2023. He revealed that, in May 2023, a person had brought a woman to his clinic to get an abortion and he charged Rs 8,000 for it. Inspector Sandeep Kumar, SHO, Sector 9A police station
The suspect was identified as East Champaran native Mohammad Saurabh (37). During the interrogation, Saurabh revealed that he had obtained an MBBS degree from China. After coming to India, he could not pass the MCI test. So, he made a fake registration certificate and practiced at a private hospital in the Islampur area in Gurugram from 2014 to 2017. Most recently, he set up his own clinic named ‘God Bless Health’ in Nathupur village, Gurugram.
After a three-day police remand, the suspect was produced before a city court on Monday and sent to judicial custody. — OC
