A number of skilled workers aspiring for jobs in Israel have alleged that they were sent for the skill test at MDU by certain agents in return for hefty fees.

Several skilled workers from different parts of Haryana and Rajasthan have narrated similar tales of exploitation by such agents.

An official engaged in conducting the skill test also conceded that some candidates had complained about agents charging fees to send them for the test. This, despite the fact that the test being conducted by the Population, Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA) of Israel has been arranged by the National Skill Development Council and the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam, and facilitated by the MDU.

Rohtak SP Himanshu Garg said though no such complaint had been received so far, the matter would be examined. “Those who have been defrauded may lodge complaints,” he said, adding that appropriate legal action would be taken in this regard.

The MDU authorities have stated that the candidates can simply walk in for the test and they are not required to come through any agency or placement consultant.

“There is no need to pay any fee to agents for appearing in the test,” said Prof Yudhvir Singh, Director, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, MDU.
