Driver, conductor killed in Hoshiarpur bus mishap

Panipat, February 16
The driver and a conductor of a Haryana Roadways bus of the Panipat depot were killed while nine passengers sustained injuries in an accident near Jandwal turn in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district in the early hours of Sunday.
The driver was identified as Salimudeen of Sonepat and the conductor Krishan Kumar of Manana village of Panipat district. Both were aged around 40.
As per information, the accident occurred at 2.30 am when the bus was on its way to Katra from Delhi. As it approached the Jandwal turn on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road in Hoshiarpur, the bus got imbalanced and rammed into a tree on the roadside. Both driver and conductor died on the spot, while nine passengers sustained injuries.
The Punjab police reached the spot and admitted all the injured to the hospital at Mukerian. One of the injured has been referred to Amritsar due to his serious condition.
Panipat Depot workshop manager Vikas Narwal confirmed the deaths. He said most of the passengers on the bus were from Delhi and a team had been sent to Hoshiarpur to get more information.
