A large quantity of seized narcotics was destroyed on Thursday under the supervision of Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP), Karnal Range, M Ravi Kiran in Karnal. The disposal was carried out as per legal procedure by the Drug Disposal Committee in the presence of Karnal SP Ganga Ram Punia, Kaithal SP Astha Modi and ASP Kanchi Singhal, along with other committee members.
The narcotics were seized under the NDPS Act by the district police of Karnal, Kaithal, and Panipat. The destroyed substances included charas, ganja, smack, sulfa, prohibited syrups, capsules, tablets, opium mixtures, intoxicating powders and heroin.
The Karnal police disposed of 262.442 kg of banned substances from 106 cases, along with 5,067 capsules and 16,655 tablets. The Panipat police destroyed 66.429 kg from 41 cases, while the Kaithal police destroyed 527.857 kg from 96 cases. The disposal took place at a waste processing facility at Bajida Jatan village under court-approved and committee-supervised procedures.
