Drug peddler held with 31 kg opium

Karnal, July 12

A team of the CIA-2 unit of Kaithal police has arrested one person allegedly with 31 kg opium costing around Rs 62 lakh in the market.

He was produced in court and was taken on two-day police remand. They are yet to determine the source of the opium. Shashank Kumar Sawan, Superintendent of Police, Kaithal, said on a tip-off, team members arrested a person from Sanjay Basti in Cheeka with 1 kg opium. Two of his accomplices managed to flee. Later, the police seized 30 kg opium from his home. — TNS
