Sonepat, February 25

Two policemen, including a sub-inspector and a constable, sustained injuries after an SUV hit a police PCR on the Sector-7 turn on the Bahalgarh road in Sonepat in the wee hours on Sunday.

The driver, who also sustained injuries, has been identified as Shashank Garg, a businessman. He was reportedly drunk at that time. The police have registered a case against him and sent his blood samples for testing.

SI Ranbir Singh of Tihar Khurd, in his complaint to the Sector-27 police, said he was on duty as naka incharge along with his team on PCR-3. Around 3 am, a speeding Fortuner directly hit the PCR vehicle. The impace was such that the PCR vehicle got badly damaged and SI Ranbir and constable Devakant Rai sustained injuries.

The police team immediately nabbed the driver, a resident of Omaxe City. The injured policemen and the Fortuner driver were admitted to a private hospital. A case has been registered against Shashank under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
