The teaching staff of Dyal Singh College, under the banner of the Haryana College Teachers’ Association, staged a dharna on the college campus to press for their long-pending demands. These include the timely disbursal of salaries, implementation of the revised House Rent Allowance (HRA), provision of proper medical facilities, a notification granting 25 casual leaves (CL), and child care leave (CCL) for women staff. They also sought implementation of the Civil Services Leave Rules, 2016, in aided colleges, as well as gratuity, ex-gratia, death gratuity, and the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Staff members assembled under a common banner to raise their voice in unity, highlighting that several issues have remained neglected for far too long.

The staff underlined that the dharna was aimed at securing justice, dignity, and fair treatment for employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tejpal, General Secretary of the Dyal Singh College Teachers’ Association, stressed the urgent need for intervention by higher authorities to avoid disruptions in academic functioning. He reiterated their commitment to safeguarding students’ interests but pointed out that staff welfare is equally critical for the effective functioning of the institution.

“Staff members are yet to receive their salaries for July and August, while September has almost ended. We demand immediate disbursal of salaries as the festival season is under way,” said Dr Tejpal.
