Edu Min gets tough on officials during grievances committee meeting in Jind
Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda got tough with officials for reportedly failing to redress grievances of residents. During a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee in the district, the minister scolded the in-charge of the Patiala Chowk police post for misconduct with a complainant, and for failing to take appropriate action over complaints. Dhanda got upset over alleged misbehaviour by the police post in-charge towards some individuals, who had gone to him to complain about a hotel operating “immorally”.
Despite filing complaints with the Patiala Chowk police post and the SP, no action had been taken, the complainants alleged. When questioned, DSP Jitendra denied any such activities taking place at the hotel.
However, the minister said residents had approached him with their concerns too. A complainant further alleged that the outpost in-charge abused and misbehaved with him when they approached him to look into the issue.
The minister said the officer was unfit for the job and directed SP Rajesh Kumar to prepare a file recommending his termination.
Dhanda also took the manager of the IDBI Bank to task for delaying a livestock loan for a farmer, demanding an explanation. Furthermore, he directed the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the high number of complaints against officials of the Labour Department, and allegations that officials were harassing the public.
Dhanda took strict action regarding a case where one Kavita of Ram Colony was reportedly denied a loan instalment under the Chief Minister’s Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana. He directed bank officials not to harass eligible beneficiaries, emphasising that the government’s objective was to uplift the underprivileged.
He warned bank officials present at the meeting that any negligence would not be tolerated, and instructed them to release the pending instalment within seven days, failing which strict action would be taken.
