The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into a fake admission scam involving four lakh non-existent students in Haryana Government schools. The CBI registered an FIR on June 28, 2024, following a Supreme Court order. The case, initially exposed in 2016, was transferred to the CBI by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2019. After beginning investigations in Hisar, the CBI has now moved to Sirsa, where it suspects fake enrollments and misuse of funds in 35 schools. The agency has asked for detailed student data and grant usage records from the academic years 2014–15 and 2015–16, creating a stir in the Education Department during the summer break.
