Education Directorate holds workshop on NEP at Bhiwani varsity

A one-day capacity building and mentoring workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020” was organised at Chaudhary Bansi Lal University (CBLU), Bhiwani, by the Directorate of Higher Education (DGHE) in collaboration with the State Higher Education Council, Haryana.

Prof Kailash Chandra Sharma, Chairperson, State Higher Education Council, Haryana, who was the chief guest at the event said inclusive nature of NEP 2020 which was important for ensuring the holistic development of students.

Prof Sharma stressed the need for flexibility and inclusiveness in higher education as envisioned in NEP 2020, enabling skill development, knowledge enhancement, and academic achievement to progress simultaneously.

During the inaugural session, Prof Deepti Dharmani, Vice-Chancellor, CBLU, discussed various initiatives undertaken by the university under NEP 2020. She also elaborated on the new educational dimensions and opportunities emerging through the policy.

The first technical session was focused on the national credit framework (NCrF), recognition of prior learning (RPL) and national higher education qualification framework (NHEQF). The session was conducted by Prof Randhir Singh Rathore, Director-IQAC from Vishwakarma Skill University, Palwal. He explained in detail the credit structure across different academic levels outlined in NEP and underlined the significance of RPL. Principals and representatives from affiliated colleges of the CBLU and Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, in Sonepat district participated in a discussion at the end of the session.

The second technical session was led by Prof Anita Dua from the department of biochemistry, Kurukshetra University. She gave a presentation on the Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education and Curriculum and Credit Framework for UG and PG Programmes.

As many as 100 participants attended the event, including academic members and principals from affiliated colleges of CBLU and Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya.
