Sirsa: Vihaan Khurana, Class XI student, of Sawan Public School, Sirsa, secured the first position in the national-level science exhibition organised by Indian Public School, Dehradun, which was sponsored by NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission and powered by Quanta Project. The exhibition was to foster talent and provide accessible platform to students who are willing to explore their innate talent and create genius. Khurana presented a model of autonomous plant watering rover, which was an innovative idea. He made a programme which made the rover go to every plant with a specific path autonomously, senses the moisture in soil and water accordingly.
Student turns author, awarded
Yamunanagar: Matchless achievements of young author Agrim Goel, who has written a book titled, ‘The Adventures of Three Friends’ have been praised overwhelmingly by the Indian Book of Records team (IBR). The title of ‘young budding author’ has been bestowed upon him by the IBR group. Agrim, a Class V student of Mukand Lal Public School, Yamunanagar, said his achievements would be featured in the India Book Records of Publication.
CBSE Cluster Tournaments
Kaithal: The kho-kho team of Indira Gandhi Senior Secondary Public School, Kaithal, has reached the semi-finals of the U-16 CBSE Cluster Tournaments (national level) after beating Bihar team. Ansh Bedi won a gold medal in the 46-kg category of the CBSE Cluster Karate Tournament after beating contestants from Gurugram, Jind, Hisar and Rohtak. Now, he will go to Madhya Pradesh for the national-level tournament. Mohit of Class XII won the first prize in the painting competition in Kala Utsav (district level).
Varsity invited to global meet
Hisar: The National Institute of Disaster Management, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, has invited Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, as a knowledge partner in organising the ‘International Conference on Landslides Risk Reduction and Resilience’ in New Delhi on November 28. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor, and Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar of the university, congratulated the department of environmental science and engineering. Prof R Baskar, chairman of the department, said the conference would discuss various issues of landslides.
Honour for farm scientist
Hisar: Prof Ram Singh, former director, Human Resource Management, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, has been honoured as the outstanding crop protection scientist by the International Association of Plant Protection Sciences during its 19th International Plant Protection Congress held at Hyderabad International Convention Center, held in India for the first time. The congress is held every 4 years under the administration of Secretary General Department of Entomology, University of Nebraska Lincoln, US. Over 800 delegates from 60 countries participated in it. Prof Ram has developed several technologies for strengthening integrated pest management programmes in different crops, which is evident from more than 2,300 citations at international level.
‘Prepare for NAAC accreditation’
Faridabad: The JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has asked the affiliated colleges to prepare themselves for NBA and NAAC accreditation. The issue was discussed in a recent meeting of directors and principals of all colleges of Faridabad and Palwal districts affiliated to the university here. Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar emphasized the need of research for students and faculty members and motivated the colleges to prepare themselves for the NBA and NAAC accreditation. He also called for the regular conduct of classes in these colleges.
Pre-Republic Day parade camp
Sonepat: Three NSS volunteers, Chanchal, Sania and Shivani, of Bhagat Phool Singh Women University have been selected from the northern region to participate in the pre-Republic Day parade camp. Congratulating the students, university VC Sushma Yadav said the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers were playing a key role in the all-round development of the girl students and in creating awareness among the women in rural areas against the social evils.
