Workshop at women’s college

Karnal: Government College for Women Karnal and NSS wing organised a one-day workshop and lecture on “Toppling Taboos: Gender Sensitisation and Social Acceptance” by Hiten Noonwal, gender fluid performance artist and multidisciplinary design educator at NIIFT, New Delhi. The workshop was started by Dr Anuradha Punia, Principal of the college. NSS officer Dr Manju Ranga introduced Hiten Noonwal and spoke about his achievements. Noonwal is the first and only Indian member of Untitled World, a unique global platform for gender fluid artists. He is also amongst the world’s top seven gender fluid artists. Theme of the workshop was to create awareness and sensitise them about elimination of discrimination towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ) community.

e-pool campus placement drive

Hisar: Tanisha Huria, a student of Haryana School of Business, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology here has been selected in the e-pool campus placement drive of Mumbai-based XL Dynamics Company at Rayat Bahara Institute, Punjab, coordinated by Training & Placement Cell of the university. Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Registrar Dr Avnesh Verma, and Academic Affairs Dean Usha Arora, of the university, congratulated the selected students. Placement Cell Director Pratap Singh expressed thanks to Prof Karam Pal Narwal, Director HSB, Dr Anjali Singhal and Dr Pramod, Training and Placement coordinators, for their role in coordinating, preparing and motivating the students for the drive.

Webinar at Karnal KVA DAV

Karnal: The IQAC of KVA DAV College for Women here organised a national-level webinar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’. Principal of the college Renu Mehta addressed the gathering and emphasised on the significant role of IPRs in the promotion of innovation and creativity in higher education. Dr Anju Narwal accorded welcome to all guests and speakers and introduced the resource persons to the audience. Keynote speaker of the webinar Pooja Menon, Chief of Operation, IPFIDE, deliberated on intellectual property rights and stressed on the research in higher education. She also said the webinar was an exercise for the cognisance of IPRs and creating awareness about it in the society.

Induction programme concludes

Rohtak: The newly-admitted students of M Phil and Ph D programme of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) were introduced to various facets of research during a two-day induction programme which concluded here. This programme was organised under the aegis of Ch Ranbir Singh Institute of Social and Economic Change (CRISEC) of the university. In the technical sessions, MDU Registrar GL Taneja briefed the students about the university research ordinance and its various provisions. University librarian Dr Satish Malik gave details about the functioning and facilities of the Vivekananda Library. Research Director AK Chillar briefed about the research ecology of the university, including the initiatives taken by it to boost research work.

Industry interaction programme

Hisar: Training and Placement Cell and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology here jointly organised an industry interaction programme in form of an online pharma talk show “VICHARSHALA-2”. Partap Singh Malik, Director Placement and Prof Neeru Vasudeva, Chairperson, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, welcomed guest speaker Sarika Jain, who is currently working as Director (GPD quality) at Pfizer Inc. The talk show was moderated by Dr Rekha Rao, Coordinator, and Dr Vikramjeet Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, presented a vote of thanks. The theme of the talk show was “Opportunities in clinical research in pharma industry”. Speaker Sarika Jain discussed her professional journey, including her experiences in various pharma companies.

KU to open from February 15

Kurukshetra: A high-level committee, constituted by Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva, to discuss and finalise opening of KU for students after receiving a letter from the Higher Education Department of Haryana State, has decided to open KU in a blended mode in phased manner from 15 February. Committee headed by Dean Academic Affairs Manjula Chaudhary and consisting of all Deans of 10 faculties, decided to open KU campus for practical work, consultancy and teaching. In the first phase all Ph D scholars, who have completed their course work, have been permitted to have hostel facilities and visit the departments for research work. Permission has also been granted to postgraduate day scholars in campus courses to attend theory and practical classes from February 15 to March 25 in the first phase.
