Function at Chaman Vatika

Kurukshetra: To strengthen the bond between the gurus and disciples, “upnayan and vedarambh sanskar” ceremony was organised in Chaman Vatika ‘Gurukul’. Acharya Dev Vrat, Governor, Gujarat, was the chief guest, who inspired the students to understand the true essence of upnayan sanskar and walk on the footsteps of their gurus. The first lady, Darshna Devi, chairman Rajender Nath, school secretary AD Gandhi, Dr Rajender Vidyalankar, graced the occasion. The word ‘upanyan’ literally means ‘spectacles’ and here it stands for the naïve student seeing the world through the eyes of their gurus.

Varsity extends admission date

Faridabad: JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has given another chance to students aspiring to pursue master’s degree and PhD in various disciplines and extended the last date for submission of online application form for admission to all PG and PhD courses upto August 31, 2021. This year, the university has introduced new UG, PG courses in arts, commerce, science and engineering. The university has also issued a scheme and syllabus for the entrance examination of various PG courses, which will likely be conducted in the first week of September. A spokesperson of the university said about 10,000 students had registered themselves on the admission portal, which is five times the total intake of all courses except BTech.

Placements in Delhi-based firm

Hisar: Ten students of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, have been selected in the e-campus placement drive of Delhi-based Seabird Logisolutions Limited company organised by the training & placement cell of the university. Prof Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor and Prof Avnesh Verma, registrar of the university congratulated the selected students. Pratap Singh, director, placement nearly 57students from BTech. mechanical and MBA passed out students applied for this job. Dr Aditya Vir Singh, assistant director said the selected students are Sapna, Nikhil, Harshal, Rishabh, Pankaj and Pawan from BTech mechanical and Prateek, Raghav, Rohit and Mandeep from the MBA passed out batch.

Plantation drive

Karnal: A tree plantation drive was organised by the NCC senior wing cadets of Pratap Public School, Sector 6. Dr Puja Waalia Mann,principal, planted the sapling and exhorted the cadets to work in saving the green cover. The saplings were distributed to the cadets. The cadets participated in this activity along with NCC caretaker Richa Sharma.

Defence career programme

Kurukshetra: A defence career target-oriented programme was started at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Senior Secondary Public School, Dhanora- Ladwa in the new session 2021 to provide equal opportunity to boys and girls to make a career in defence. It also aims at making the students mentally alert, physically healthy and emotionally strong. For which the school is attached with the pre-preparations. A separate section c-top defence has been kept for specially talented students from class VI onwards. Describing the purpose of this programme, principal Dherminder Khera said from class VI onwards, the students will be prepared for the examinations like Armed Forces, NEET, NTSE, KVPY, IIT, CA, CS, CLAT etc.

Webinar for parents

Yamunanagar: A webinar for parents was organised by Dyal Singh Public School, Jagadhri, which was headed by exam coordinators Meenu and Harry from Cambridge University, UK. The resource persons highlighted the need and importance of conducting Cambridge ESOL exams for students. The parents got acquainted with four basic skills (LSRW) to be adjudged as well as the pattern of examination. Principal Parul Kumar expressed her gratitude towards the resource persons and parents and also motivated parents to recognise the importance of Cambridge ESOL exams as these were evaluated on the basis of CEFR level ie common european framework of references for languages.

Students bring laurels

Yamunanagar: Six students of the first semester of MSc physics of Guru Nanak Khalsa College have brought laurels to the college and the district by securing important positions in the declared merit list of Kurukshetra University. College principal Dr (Major) Harinder Singh Kang said Prerna Sharma of the physics department secured 83.1 per cent marks in the university, Cheenu got 78.9 per cent marks, Smriti Bhathia 78.7 per cent, Bhavya 78.7 per cent and Parvinder Kaur 78.7 per cent. Rakhi secured seventh position by securing 78.5 per cent.
