Election Commission working as BJP team; fatal for democracy: Bhupinder Hooda
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has stated that the Election Commission of India (ECI), which is asking for an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi regarding the charges of vote theft, should first give an affidavit itself.
“The Election Commission should give in writing that there are no fake voters or cases of one person having two votes anywhere. If the Commission gives it in writing, then we will give it countless proofs regarding our charges,” Hooda said in a media interaction here today.
“The Commission is asking for an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi to cover up its misdeeds. However, the public has understood that the Election Commission is functioning like a team of the BJP. This is a fatal situation for the democracy of the country, because a democracy remains strong only when all constitutional institutions work independently,” he said.
The former Chief Minister demanded that the investigation of Bhiwani's Manisha death case should be handed over to the CBI as demanded by her family as the role of Haryana Government and police in the case has been negligent and irresponsible.
“An attempt is being made to prove that it is a case of suicide and the criminals who carried out this brutal crime are still roaming free. They should be arrested as soon as possible and given the harshest punishment,” Hooda said.
In response to a query, the Congress leader said the law and order machinery had collapsed and a rule of crime was established in the state under the BJP regime.
Hooda pointed out that three to four murders were being committed in Haryana per day.
“Criminals commit crimes whenever they want and the government remains a mute spectator. Due to the deteriorating law and order situation, no new investment is coming to Haryana. Even the existing industrial units are migrating elsewhere, whereas before 2014, Haryana was the number one state in the country in terms of per capita investment,” he stated.
