Government employees across all districts of Haryana on Friday protested against the implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) by wearing black badges and submitting memorandums to the Chief Minister through their respective Deputy Commissioners.

The protest was organised by the Pension Bahali Sangharsh Samiti under the banner of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme. Employees gathered outside mini-secretariats in various districts, voicing opposition to the new pension model being introduced by the state government.

Vijender Dhariwal, state president of the Pension Bahali Sangharsh Samiti, criticised the move saying, “The Haryana Government is also implementing the UPS on the lines of the central government by changing the name of the NPS. The central government implemented the UPS on April 1, and only 1.37 percent of employees have adopted it so far, which is a clear-cut indication of opposition.”
