Empty roads, deserted public places in Y’nagar

Yamunanagr, March 22
Yamunanagar district witnessed empty roads and deserted public places throughout the day on Sunday following the Janata Curfew proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to limit the Covid spread.
Except hospitals and medical stores, all markets, shops and showrooms of twin cities Yamunanagar and Jagadhri and towns including Pratap Nagar, Chhachhrauli, Bilaspur, Sadhaura, Saraswati Nagar and Radaur remained closed.
Bus stands of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, railway stations of Yamunanagar and Railway Workshop, all roads, streets and lanes of twin city wore a deserted look throughout the day.
Similarly, there was no movement of vehicles on Jagadhri-Paonta Sahib National Highway, Yamunanagar-Panchkula National Highway and other roads of the district.
DP Singh, senior vice-president of Saraswati Sugar Mills, Yamunanagar, said that the operation of the sugar mill was kept non-functional between 7 am and 9 pm following the Janata Curfew.
According to information, other industrial units including plywood industry also remained non-functional.
Sources said that some wine shops were opened in the morning, but they were soon shut by the administration.
Sanitisation in twin cities
Dr Vijay Dahiya, civil surgeon, said that the four samples of Covid suspects had so far been sent for testing from Yamunanagar district to BPS Government Medical College for Women, Khanpur of Sonipat district.
“The reports of all four samples were tested negative,” said Dr Dahiya.
He said that sanitisation of sodium hypochlorite solution was done in twin cities Yamunanagar and Jagadhri today.
