Street vendors and shopkeepers have encroached on a number of footpaths and other walking spaces in markets and shopping areas of Faridabad. Residents have often complained that this illegal practice has become a major cause for concern for them as they get little or no space to park their vehicles. Wrong parking and encroachments lead to frequent traffic jams, too. The civic authorities should earmark vending zones in order to tackle the problem on priority.

Focus on efficient garbage disposal & processing
Karnal’s fall in the Swachh Survekshan-2023 calls for an urgent and comprehensive plan by the municipal corporation to ensure effective disposal and processing of garbage. Not only would it enhance the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards in Karnal, it would also help in the improvement of the city’s ranking at the state and national levels. The authorities concerned should adopt appropriate measures regarding the same. Rajiv Kumar, Karnal
Monkey menace continues unabated
Narwana is reeling under the simian menace, with the presence of around 5,000 monkeys in the town. Residents have often complained that these monkeys enter their houses and compounds, posing a threat to their lives and property. As a result, they have been forced to get iron grills installed in windows and balconies to keep these animals at bay. The civic body should launch a campaign to round up these monkeys at the earliest. Ramesh Gupta, Narwana
