The DC, while chairing the monthly district road safety meeting, said the encroachment, wrong-side driving, buses halting at Pipli Chowk are among the major reasons behind the accidents at Gita Dwar, Pipli. To prevent these road accidents, a slip road will be created near Gita Dwar, for which instructions have been given to the officials of the NHAI to prepare a project by September 30.

The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would also focus on the beautification of the area and directions had also been issued to remove encroachment. All officers should take the safety of school students seriously, therefore, all parameters of school buses should be fulfilled as per rules and no school bus should run on the road without passing. The DC also found nearly 50 stray cattleheads at various locations and directed the municipal council to catch these. As per the information, the Deputy Commissioner along with City Magistrate Ashish Kumar, conducted an inspection of the sanitary conditions in the city area last night and issued directions to the municipal council regarding the shortcomings and deficiencies.

Meena said the dustbins kept in the city areas were not cleaned. The shopkeepers haven’t even placed dustbins outside the shops in the market areas. The municipal council has been motivating the shopkeepers, but they are not following the directions.

He instructed the officials of the Municipal Council to keep persuading the shopkeepers and make them participate in the Swachh Kurukshetra campaign. If the shopkeepers do not improve even after awareness, then challans should be issued.
