Chandigarh, October 23
Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala today gave strict directions to the officials concerned that there should not be evasion of tax on liquor under any circumstances in the state.
He said there would be tracking of liquor from the distillery to the shop and a unique QR code would be mentioned on each bottle. The Deputy CM was presiding over a meeting of the Excise Department here today.
The directive
- Prepare an online system so that the entire data of liquor production, stock departure, arrival at shops, along with sales and stock at the shop, can be recorded at the distillery
- QR code should be marked on every liquor bottle and there should be a separate QR code on the box through which it can be identified which QR code bottles are packed in it

Reviewing the draft of the system prepared by the department, he directed that QR code should be marked on every liquor bottle. There should be a separate QR code on the box through which it could be identified which QR code bottles were packed in that. This step would not only curb liquor smuggling, but also enhance revenue of the state government.
The Deputy CM gave orders to curb illegal trade of liquor and increase tax revenue as much as possible so that the income received from that could be invested in the development of the state.
