Ensure panchayats, civic bodies get sports equipment, says Karnal DC
Karnal, February 2
Deputy Commissioner Anish Yadav on Friday directed the District Sports Officer (DSO) to ensure the availability of sports equipment for panchayats and civic bodies under the Haryana Sports Equipment scheme.
While chairing a meeting of department officials, the DC emphasised the need for providing sports equipment to as many local bodies as possible.
“The state government has initiated the scheme in an effort to provide sports equipment to panchayats and municipal bodies. The aim is to ensure that the athletes in rural areas also benefit from better sports facilities,” said the DC, while reviewing the progress of the scheme at his office.
He highlighted the importance of the scheme and said it is a crucial initiative of the state government for athletes. Yadav also instructed the authorities to promote the scheme extensively so that more players would benefit.
“Officials will also approach the panchayats and MCs to submit demands for sports equipment,” said the DC.
DSO Sudha Bhaseen said four application forms have been received under this scheme from Goli, Staundi Kunjapura, and Kalamapura panchayats.
A committee comprising local coaches visited these villages and based on the report, volleyball and cricket equipment will be provided in Goli village, while volleyball equipment will be given in Kunjpura and Kamalpura, the DSO added. Goli village does not have a suitable volleyball court and volleyball pole, and similarly, there is no wrestling hall for wrestling mats in the village.
