Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa asserted that there must be no compromise on the quality of development works being carried out across the state. “Strict action will be taken against any official or contractor found using substandard materials,” he warned during the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting held at the Panchayat Bhawan on Monday.

During the meeting, Gangwa listened to 18 public grievances, resolving eight cases on the spot and directed reinvestigation into the remaining 10 cases. He directed senior officials to complete the investigation within a stipulated time frame and present factual reports in the next meeting.

The minister emphasised that public interest was the government’s top priority, and urged the officials to resolve citizen complaints at their own level to minimize the number of cases reaching the committee. He insisted on inter-departmental coordination and timely response to public concerns.

Speaking to the media, Gangwa highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the youth were being recruited purely on the basis of merit and transparency, without the need for any recommendations or bribes. He expressed gratitude to Union Minister Manohar Lal for introducing administrative reforms during his tenure as the CM, which made the recruitment process clean and fair.

Gangwa shared an inspiring example from his own constituency, where the son of a street vendor secured a government job without any political connections. “This is the first government where the child of a poor man can get a government job without lobbying or money,” he said.

He also mentioned that 25,000 government jobs were sanctioned by CM Nayab Singh Saini immediately after taking oath, as part of the BJP government’s commitment to employment.

On infrastructure, Gangwa said cleaning of drains, sewers and nullahs was underway across the state and efforts were being made to increase the number of super-suction machines under the High-Powered Committee. Adequate pump sets and generators have also been made available.

Responding to a question on the SYL canal issue, Gangwa said the Supreme Court’s decision was in Haryana’s favour and that Punjab should follow the ruling. He expressed hope that the Central Government would soon convene a meeting to resolve the matter. He further said the Haryana Government had zero tolerance toward crime, and the CM had directed the police to ensure strict action against criminal activities.

In the case of Palo Devi of Sambhli village, whose insurance claim was pending, the minister took serious note and directed the LDM to file a complaint with the SP, Karnal, followed by an investigation report in the next meeting. For Rekha of Munak, whose husband’s death claim under the PMJJBY scheme was not settled, similar directives were issued to the LDM and SP.

Ramesh Chand from Santdi village had applied for an electricity connection, which was pending due to high voltage lines. The SDM, Indri, was directed to investigate with assistance from two local members.

Maninder Singh of Ramnagar alleged that the local ration depot holder was misappropriating rations. The SDM, Karnal, will submit a detailed report on irregularities and faulty machines. Rajesh Kumar of Sector 7 complained about repeated deductions without resolution. The minister instructed the EO, HSVP, to return the deducted money as per rules.
