Every grain of paddy will be procured at MSP: Rana

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana today reviewed ongoing paddy procurement and lifting process at the Saraswati Nagar grain market in Yamunanagar district.

He directed the officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, HAFED and other procurement agencies to ensure that farmers do not have to face any inconvenience in selling their produce.

“The government will procure every single grain of paddy from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP),” Rana said.

He emphasised that the state government was fully committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring smooth procurement and lifting operations across all grain markets in Haryana.

Rana said he was personally visiting grain markets across the state to monitor the pace of procurement and lifting.

He urged farmers and commission agents to cooperate with the administration to facilitate the smooth lifting of paddy. The minister also advised farmers to bring clean and properly dried paddy to the markets to ensure timely procurement at MSP by government agencies.

During his visit, Rana checked the moisture content in paddy using testing machines. He interacted with farmers and traders to understand their concerns.

Rana also reviewed reports on paddy arrivals, purchases, lifting, gate passes and transportation. He directed that adequate facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, electricity and cleanliness be maintained in all procurement centres.

The minister said Haryana was the first state in the country where the maximum quantity of crops was being procured at the MSP.
