Ex-CM’s village battles with scarcity of drinking water
Residents of Baniyani, the native village of former Haryana Chief Minister and present Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar, have been battling with the lack of clean drinking water, poor drainage system, waterlogging and narrow streets etc.
The villagers aired their grievances before Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dharmender Singh during a night-stay camp organised at Baniyani.
The residents apprised the Deputy Commissioner and other officers of their concerns and also demanded the provision of proper sports infrastructure at the village.
Deputy Commissioner Dharmender Singh assured the villagers that the district administration would make efforts to fulfil all reasonable demands of Baniyani village and get the grievances redressed.
“The issues pertaining to drinking water, drainage system, widening of streets and sports facilities will be resolved in coordination with the authorities of the departments concerned,” he asserted. The Deputy Commissioner planted a tree at the village community centre premises, giving the message of environmental conservation to the villagers.
The district officers heard the complaints of the villagers during the night stay camp organised under the Haryana Uday programme at the village community centre.
Rohtak Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Narendra Kumar, ASP YVR Sashi Shekhar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashish Kumar, City Magistrate Ankit Kumar, Roadways General Manager Vipin Kumar, DSP Gulab Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer Rajpal Chahal, District Revenue Officer Pramod Chahal, Civil Surgeon Dr Ramesh Chander, District Education Officer Manjeet Malik, Naib Tehsildar Deepak, village Sarpanch Ramjivan and Block Development and Panchayat Officer Ashwani Kumar along with officers of other government departments were present.
The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would install a pump to provide a permanent solution to the waterlogging problem on the school premises and overflowing pond. “A survey will be conducted for the repair of old canals and construction of new canals for irrigation facilities in the village,” he stated.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the overflowing pond on the spot and gave necessary instructions to the officials concerned. He also inspected the village waterworks and instructed the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department to clean the tank on the spot.
Singh directed the officials concerned that the illegal connections installed on the drinking water pipeline of the village be removed at the earliest. He also distributed free assistive devices to the disabled and elderly at a health check-up camp organised in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society and Alimco during the night stay programme.
