The team, comprising Excise Inspectors Anil Kumar, Shekhar and Gurmeet, also issued challans to the operators of the vends.

Alok Passi, Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Yamunanagar, said the team had inspected some liquor vends and bars, after which it found that country liquor was being sold below the prescribed minimum rate at a vend in Khajuri village; and a sub-vend in Tugalpur village of the district — in violation of excise policy.

“The operators of the liquor vend and sub-vend breached the excise policy, therefore, these were sealed,” Passi said.

He added that, during checking, about 28 bottles of various brands were found to be marked with districts other than Jagadhri at the sub-vend.

“The bottles were confiscated, samples were taken, and a challan was issued. The samples have sent to a laboratory,” Passi said. He added that discrepancies were noted in some bars too.
