The experience certificates of over 800 bus conductors hired through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) have come under the scanner. The state transport authorities have instructed the General Managers (GMs) at all depots of the Roadways to verify these certificates promptly and submit a report.

As per sources, the action follows complaints about "fake" certificates used by some of the candidates to secure the job. Acting swiftly, the Rohtak depot GM has formed a committee to verify the certificates.

“All these candidates were given preference in recruitment as they had helped the state government in dealing with the situation efficiently when roadways employees had gone on strike for several days in 2018. They worked as conductors on a daily basis during the strike period to ensure services to the public. For that, the candidates were not only paid but also issued an experience certificate,” said the sources.

They claimed that the state government had promised to give them preference during recruitment of conductors, hence some individuals, who actually did not perform the duties during the strike, also managed to obtain fake certificates.

“The HKRN recently hired the conductors on the basis of their experience certificates. After the appointment, the state transport authorities received complaints, which led to the verification of certificates of all candidates hired as conductors,” the sources said.

The certificates would be verified on the basis of remuneration paid to the conductors during the strike.

Bharat Bhushan Gogia, GM, told ‘The Tribune’ that nine conductors had recently joined and the process to verify their certificates was underway. “A report will soon be sent to the authorities,” he added.

Suzan Singh, Director General (Transport), did not divulge any details.
