A new selection regime, under which the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) will take the help of technical experts in the selection process, has come into force for the selection of constables and sub-inspectors (SIs) in the Haryana Police.
Knowledge test to carry 94.5% marks
- HSSC to maintain computer-based management information system about selection process.
- 100 per cent constables’ posts, 50 per cent SIs’ post to be filled through direct recruitment.
- CET, physical tests to be qualifying in nature to shortlist candidates for knowledge test
- Knowledge test to carry 94.5 per cent marks; National Cadet Corps (NCC) certificates, socio-economic criteria to carry 5.5 per cent marks.
Under the newly-notified Punjab Police (Haryana Amendment) Rules, 2024 Rules, the HSSC will co-opt one or more technical experts such as serving or retired police officer (not below the rank of a DSP), psychologist, doctor and subject matter expert to assist in the selection process.
“The HSSC will be responsible for maintaining a computer-based management information system (MIS) for managing the entire selection process, including receipt of online applications, their processing and preparation of results,” a notification issued by TVSN Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), said.
Under the new rules, all vacancies of constables and 50 per cent of the total sanctioned posts of SIs will be filled through direct recruitment.
The HSSC will invite adequate number of candidates on the basis of the merit obtained by them in the common eligibility test (CET) for physical measurement test (PMT) and physical screening test (PST). These tests will be qualifying in nature and will be used by the HSSC to shortlist four times the number of vacancies advertised for the knowledge test.
The candidates, who have qualified the PMT, will appear in the PST to judge their physical fitness and endurance. The candidates failing to meet the standards prescribed in the PST will be eliminated from the further selection process.
The new rules said the knowledge test would carry 94.5 per cent marks in the selection process. While the candidates having NCC “C” certificate will be eligible to get up to 3 per cent marks, a maximum of 2.5 per cent marks will be awarded to the candidates on the basis of the socio-economic criteria.
Meanwhile, the new selection procedure will not be applicable for the children of deceased police officials under the ex-gratia scheme. Besides, it will also not apply to the recruitment of the constables in the specialised wings of the Haryana Police, including telecommunication wing, Haryana Police Commando Force, Indian Reserve Battalion, State Crime Record Bureau, Band and Buglers Staff, Mounted Police, Dog Squad, Cyber Cell and officials with special qualifications or experience.
