The arrest of an Inspector over the alleged embezzlement of wheat stock worth Rs 68 lakh from a Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department godown has, once again, brought to the fore the issue of government wheat being siphoned off from buffer stock, meant for supply to ration depots for the poor.
