The explosives that were seized by a team of police and mines departments from Dholera village here recently were manufactured by a Rajasthan-based company as its stamp has been found imprinted on the explosives.

The explosives were set to be used for carrying out illegal mining in the hill area of Dholera when the team reached there a week ago while acting on a tip-off. The perpetrators had by then escaped from the spot on getting the whiff about the raid.

Six detonators, safety fuses, wires and other things used in blasts were recovered from there. Five holes were found to have been dug in the hill through a compressor machine. The materials buried inside the holes were connected with a wire with an intention to trigger the blast, claimed an FIR filed in this respect.

“As per rules, employees of the explosives manufacturing firm are supposed to see the licence of the buyer for mining activity before selling the explosives. We will visit the factory whose stamp has been found imprinted on the explosives to ascertain whether or not it had been issued from there,” Inspector Dharambir, SHO, Nizampur police station, told The Tribune.

He said at present, raids were being conducted at possible whereabouts of those two local persons, whose names had surfaced in the case. They belonged to a nearby village and are absconding since the explosives were found at Dholera, he added.

“After their arrest, the accused will be interrogated about the explosives to know from where they had bought those,” the SHO maintained.

Sources maintained that explosives were also recovered from Ghatasher village over one-and-a-half years ago. Those were also to be used in triggering blasts for carrying out illegal mining of stones. The origin of those explosives is yet to be found.

Bhupinder Singh, Mining Officer, said it was the duty of the police to investigate the cases from all angles and to find out the location from where the explosives were brought to Dholera village for the purposes of illegal mining.
