Extension lecture at KVA DAV College
Karnal: An extension lecture on the topic “Translating growth into prosperity and happiness” was organised at KVA DAV College for Women here. Principal Sujata Gupta welcomed the resource person, Prof Neera Verma, Department of Economics chairperson and Kurukshetra University Human Resource Development Centre director. Addressing the students she said, “Growth in economics may be referred to evolution of potential output which ultimately leads to affluence and contentment.” She said such lectures were organised from time to time to augment knowledge of students. Prof Verma said per capita income and GDP were not the right parameters to judge prosperity and happiness rather success and contentment were the essential parameters that judge the growth of a nation. A poster-making competition on the topic “Current economic issues” was also organised, in which more than 100 students participated.
Workshop on NAAC accrediation
Faridabad: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, here in association with engineering and technology faculty organised a one-day workshop on “An insight into revised accreditation framework of NAAC” recently. The workshop was sponsored by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The objective of the workshop was to create awareness about NAAC accreditation process and its benefits to higher education institutions and to discuss qualitative and quantitative metrics of revised NAAC accreditation. The workshop was inaugurated by chief guest Kurukshetra NIT Professor (retd) SK Chakarvarti, Quality Assurance dean Prof Sandeep Grover, faculty of engineering and technology dean Prof Tilak Raj, IQAC director Prof Hari Om and other dignitaries. The speakers emphasised on the need for accreditation of colleges affiliated to the university and appreciated the initiative of the IQAC cell for conducting an awareness workshop. Prof Hari Om welcomed all the guests and briefed the participants about the objective of the workshop.
7 selected in Placement drive
Hisar: Seven students have been selected at the campus placement drive of Noida based Uflex company conducted by training and placement cell at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar and Registrar Harbhajhan Bansal congratulated the selected students. Pratap Singh, director placement said they were India’s largest flexible packaging company and an emerging global player. HR Manager Deepanjali and Shubham, assistant manager from the company, conducted the drive in which 27 students of BTech mechanical participated.
Blessing ceremony in school
Ambala: DAV Public School, Ambala Cantt, organised a blessing ceremony for students of class X and XII. A ceremonial hawan was performed wherein students and teachers invoked Goddess Saraswati to seek her blessings. Thereafter, teachers extended their good wishes by applying tilak to the students. Principal Dr Seema Dutt wished the students good luck and gave them important instructions for their upcoming board exams and motivated them.
Coronavirus awareness camp
Sonepat: In cooperation with local health authorities, a campaign to make students aware about coronavirus has been organised at the local Hindu Girl College. Principal RK Gupta and other experts explained about the symptoms of the disease and precautions to prevent infection. Students were asked to educate not only their family but also other neighbours and relatives about the precautionary measures. “Precaution is the best way to avoid infection,” said Dr Gupta.
200 participate in innovation seminar
Kurukshetra: Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) organised a one-day seminar on “Women innovation in STEM” jointly with KUTIC, KUK, on the occasion of International Day of Women and Girls in Science to encourage, motivate and inspire girl students to pursue their career in STEM and to overcome the existing gender disparity. Prof Smita Chaudhry, coordinator, women in STEM forum, addressed the issue that why only a few women contributors were involved in STEM. She motivated students to pursue career in STEM. Dr KC Sharma, Vice Chancellor, KUK, emphasised that girls needed to be provided with equal opportunities in academics to excel in STEM. A total of 200 students and research scholars from different departments participated in the seminar.
Award for Best research paper
Hisar: Research paper on the topic, “Modelling of cellulosic substrates related runnability and printability issues in dry toner-based digital printing techniques”, was awarded the best research paper. It was presented by Bijender Kaushik, Department of Printing Technology of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, at the eighth Manipal Media Congress-2020 (MMC-2020) held at the Department of Media Technology of the Manipal Institute of Technology sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education.
