Extortion threat of Rs 2 crore to former MLA's son, police provide security
A call was made from an international number on Friday, followed by a message
A man claiming to be a member of a notorious gang allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore in extortion from Harsh Sharma, son of former Badli MLA Naresh Sharma, through phone call and message.
Following a complaint, the local police provided security to Harsh and launched an investigation into the matter. Harsh is one of the partners running a private hospital in Jhajjar city.
“Initially, a call was made from an international number on Friday. The caller introduced himself as a member of a notorious gang and demanded Rs 2 crore, threatening dire consequences if the demand is not met. Shortly afterward, he sent a message repeating the same demand. My son then filed a police complaint,” Naresh Sharma told ‘The Tribune’.
He appreciated the prompt response of the police, saying they took swift action and immediately provided security to his son.
DCP Amit Dahiya confirmed that a case had been registered and the investigation was underway. “Security cover has been provided to the complainant,” he added.
