Eyeing Bihar polls, Karnal BJP unit celebrates Bihar Diwas in Karnal

BJP Karnal unit celebrated ‘Bihar Diwas’, the foundation day of Bihar’ in the city with people of Bihar, who have been living here for the past several years, under the theme of ‘Sneha Milan’. The programme is being seen as a step of the party for the preparation of Bihar elections, scheduled for October or November.

A large number of people from the Purvanchal community participated in the event. The chief guest was Bihar BJP MLA Anil Ram, who was joined by several prominent BJP leaders, including Bihar MLC Ghanshyam Thakur, Bihar BJP state executive member Anand Pathak, BJP state general secretary and state convener of the programme Archana Gupta, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, Indri MLA Ramkumar Kashyap, Assandh MLA Yogendra Rana, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, former BJP district officiating president and convener of the programme Brij Gupta, BJP district president Praveen Lather and others.

Speaking at the event, Anil Ram expressed his delight in being part of the Bihar Diwas celebrations outside his home state. He emphasised that Bihar Diwas was not just celebrated in Bihar but across India and the world, reflecting the rich and proud cultural heritage of the state. He said after 2005, being a ‘Bihari’ became a matter of pride, whereas earlier, people hesitated in identifying themselves as Biharis.

Anil Ram highlighted the state’s progress, stating that Bihar was no longer the same as before and was now advancing towards becoming a developed state. He credited the Narendra Modi-led Central Government for significant improvement in infrastructure, particularly road . He also praised Bihar’s education system as one of the best in the country and emphasised the growing employment opportunities in the state.

Expressing gratitude towards Union Power Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Anil Ram acknowledged his efforts in constructing Chhath Ghats, temples and community halls in Haryana for the people of Bihar origin. He thanked him on behalf of the Bihari community residing in Haryana.

During his speech, Anil Ram extended an invitation to the Bihari community in Haryana to visit Bihar for the upcoming Chhath Puja and urged them to participate in large numbers in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections. He encouraged them to support the NDA to ensure further development of Bihar.

Archana Gupta, Bihar Diwas state coordinator and Haryana BJP general secretary, extended greetings on the occasion and appreciated the contribution of the Bihari community towards Haryana’s development. She highlighted their role in agriculture, industry and sectors such as Panipat’s handloom industry, which had greatly benefited from the expertise of the workers from outside the state.

Bihar Diwas Karnal programme coordinator Brij Gupta, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, Assandh MLA Yogendra Rana, Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap, newly elected Mayor Renu Bala Gupta also acknowledged the significant contribution of the Bihari community to Haryana’s progress.
