Faridabad civic body reserves 21 of 46 wards

A draw was held for the reservation of wards of the Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF) here on Sunday. The city has a total of 46 wards where elections will be held soon.

A senior official of the district administration said the draw resulted in the reservation of 14 wards for women (12 for general category and two for SC women candidates), two each for BC-A and BC-B candidates and three for SC candidates. The remaining 25 will be open for general category candidates.

ADC Sahil Gupta, who presided over the function to hold the draw, said reservation had been made as per the rules and regulations of the state government to ensure fair representation to all categories.

Dhanesh Adhlakha, MLA from the Badkhal Assembly segment, was among those present on the occasion. The draw, which was videographed, was held in presence of officials of various departments and outgoing members of the MCF.

Ward numbers 1, 2, 3, 10, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 35, 36, 37, 40, 41 and 44 are open for general category candidates, while 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 17, 25, 27, 31, 38, 39 and 43 are for reserved women (general category) candidates. Ward numbers 33 and 45 are for SC women candidates.

Ward numbers 12, 14 and 34 have been reserved for SC candidates. Ward numbers 6 and 46 have been reserved for BC-A and 7 and 42 for BC-B candidates.
