Farmers’ crops registered under 'wrong' names on govt portal, BKE seeks action
Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE) state president Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh has raised a serious concern about an alleged ongoing fraud in the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal in Haryana.
He said that several farmers had complained that their crop registration was done under someone else’s name without their knowledge. Aulakh said the fraud was being committed every year. Criminals, with the help of some Revenue Department officials and staff, were registering farmers’ crops under fake names to take unfair advantage.
In Rajpura village of Goriwala tehsil, several farmers, including Leeladhar, Saroj, Nirmal, Kaluram and Balmukund found that their crops were already registered under the name Sahila with his mobile number, when they tried to register their own crops.
An online complaint has been submitted, but when the farmers approached the local police at the Odhan police station, they were turned away. The police claimed the matter was not under their jurisdiction.
Disappointed, the farmers then sent a complaint to the Deputy Director of Agriculture, Sirsa, requesting cancellation of the fake registrations so that they could register their crops correctly.
A similar case has also been reported in Sadewala village of Rania tehsil, where farmers Narendra Singh, Bajir Singh, Hanuman, and Girdawari Devi found their crops wrongly registered under the name Sakunat, with his mobile number.
Aulakh said hundreds of such cases were reported across Haryana every year, but the government had failed to find a permanent solution. He urged the state government to instruct all police stations to take such complaints seriously and register FIRs against those committing fraud. He demanded justice for the affected farmers.
Aulakh also criticised the state’s over-reliance on digital systems, saying, “Farmers are stuck in portal problems instead of working in their fields. The government must free farmers from this mess.”
In response to the issue, Dr Sukhdev Kamboj, Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department, said most farmers are entering their data correctly, but in some cases, mistakes happen during data entry, which leads to appearance of wrong information. He added that if any farmer felt that their data was incorrect, they should immediately file a complaint on the same ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal, and the issue would be resolved.
He also mentioned that the portal was open until August 31, and the farmers could submit complaints about wrong data directly on the portal before that date.
