Farmers demand survey of crops damaged by rain
The local unit of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an association of farmers, has demanded immediate survey of the crops that have suffered damage due to untimely rain and hailstorm in various parts of the district in the past 48 hours.
A spokesperson of the morcha said that the standing rabi crop of wheat in several villages has suffered damage, but the authorities are yet to launch a survey to assess the damage in order to provide compensation for the loss.
Mahender Singh Chauhan, a spokesperson of the SKM, said that reports from the villages like Aurangabad, Mitrol, Sondh, Banchari, Lohna, Bamni Kheda, Rundhi, Ladiaka, Dighot, Manpur Gahlab, Kaundal, Ferozepur Rajput, Phulwari, Janachauli, Jainpur, Gharot indicate loss due to rain and hailstorm.
He said similar damage had been reported due to natural calamity in March and December last year, but many farmers are yet to get relief for it.
He said while the district authorities need to order a survey of the loss to the crops caused recently, the farmers have been asked to register their complaints and details of crop damage on ‘Meri Fasal, Mera Byora’, the official portal of the state government.
A memorandum would be submitted to the authorities concerned soon in this regard, he said.
