Farmers display spray of pesticides with drones
Jeff Rowe, global CEO of Syngenta, on his maiden visit to India, visited Churni village in the district on Monday and applauded the efforts of farmers in agriculture and spraying through drones. He reviewed the Climate Smart Agriculture project and interacted with the farmers. Meanwhile, a demonstration of drone was also conducted and the farmers were made aware about the drone and its working.
Rowe announced the launch of Inculcating Rural India Skill Enhancement programme to train one lakh youth and prepare them for agriculture-related livelihood opportunities.
Rowe along with other Syngenta leaders, including MD and country head Susheel Kumar, spent time in an interactive session with the Climate Smart Agriculture and Soil Health project farmers.
Rowe and the team visited the Basmati rice field of Gurdev Singh, a progressive farmer. “I am happy to see the speed with which the technology is being embraced here by the farmers and complimented our team for being the front-end enablers in this endeavour of the farming communities,” said Rowe. “We support the farmers adopting regenerative practices to address climate & food security while committing to developing technologies to enhance and protect yield, and commercialise new products supported by digital science. We are also committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to make our operations sustainable,” he added.
