Farmers of Titoli village here have urged the state government to enhance support provided to them. They have called for timely and adequate availability of fertilisers, water and electricity ahead of the upcoming kharif crop cultivation season in the district.

Farmers raised the concern before former Labour Minister Krishan Murti Hooda, who visited the village on Wednesday as part of his Meet the Farmer campaign.

The campaign aims to address farmers’ grievances and present them to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for resolution.

“Fertiliser, water and electricity play a crucial role in the agriculture sector, so every farmer expects these essentials to be adequately supplied by the state government to ensure good cultivation and a bumper yield. Farmers shared these concerns with me during our interaction. They also raised some minor issues, which were resolved immediately by contacting the officers concerned over the phone,” said Hooda.

He claimed that neither the local MLA nor the MP were paying attention to the farmers’ problems, which had caused resentment among farmers of the village.

“During the interaction, farmers appreciated the CM for addressing concerns of not only farmers but also common citizens. Such a humane gesture sets him apart from other leaders. Farmers also praised him for procuring their produce at the minimum support price,” he added.

Hooda said that the government, led by CM Saini, was the only one in the nation procuring 24 different crops at MSP. “This clearly demonstrates how the BJP government is truly a well-wisher of the farmers,” he said.

The former minister, along with the farmers, also inspected agricultural land and took note of their suggestions to present before the CM.
