Farmers promised monthly rent for electricity towers in fields

Meham MLA and Haryana Jansevak Party (HJP) nominee Balraj Kundu has promised the farmers of the constituency that he would ensure the provision of monthly rent to them for the high-tension electric towers installed in their fields on the pattern of mobile towers installed on private land/buildings if he becomes part of the upcoming government in the state.

Kundu had won the last election from Meham as an Independent. Later, he formed the HJP and is contesting as its candidate this time to retain the seat.

“I will try to get this scheme implemented for the benefit of the state farmers if I happen to be a partner in the next government of Haryana,” maintains Kundu.

Towers supporting the high-tension electricity wires have been installed in agricultural fields across the state.

“The farmers in whose fields these towers are installed have to suffer in two ways. Firstly, the rate of the land on which such towers are installed reduces considerably. Secondly, the threat of mishaps always looms large and the standing crops often get burnt,” says Sumit, a former sarpanch of Makrauli village in Rohtak district.

Kundu has also promised to set up skill development centres in every block and ensure the provision of interest-free loans to the jobless youth to set up their own industrial units.
