Faridabad, February 13

More than 500 farmers, who tried to proceed towards Delhi via the KGP Expressway to Delhi in support of a call given by the BKU and other farmers’ organisations, were stopped by the police at a toll plaza near Maujpur village in the district.

A majority of the protesters belonging to various villages have been staging a dharna near Mohna village in support of their demand for access to the upcoming Greenfield Expressway to connect Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with the Jewar Airport in UP.

Claiming that the farmers who were travelling in tractor-trailers had assembled at the Mohna village in morning and started moving to Delhi, a spokesperson of the protesters said they were not allowed to move ahead by the police personnel posted on the KGP and then they decided to stop there.

Meanwhile, police spokespersons in Faridabad and Palwal districts claimed that the march of farmers towards Delhi in the tractor-trailers won’t be allowed as per the orders.
