Kaithal, February 13
The Kaithal police heaved a sigh of relief as protesting farmers opted to head towards Delhi through the Khanauri-Data Singh Wala border in the Narwana subdivision of Jind district on Tuesday.
Earlier, it was anticipated that they might enter through Tatiana, Sangatpura, and other checkpoints. In anticipation of entry from these checkpoints, the police had erected multilayer barricades to prevent farmers from entering through these routes. The checkpoints were transformed into fortress, equipped with water cannons, tear gas equipment, and
other resources.
Karnal Range IGP Satender Kumar Gupta and Kaithal Superintendent of Police Ms Upasana, along with other senior officials of the district and heavy police force, were present to monitor the situation. The SP emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong presence to deter potential unrest.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of people. We have made all arrangements to prevent farmers from taking law into their hands. Although they chose alternative routes, our security arrangements and vigilance measures will persist until further notice. We are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond effectively to any development,” the SP said.
A significant number of security personnel, including four companies of paramilitary and 10 of police, remained stationed at various locations.
