The Fatehabad police have achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illegal cricket betting. In the recent success, the authorities managed to shut down a betting app being operated illegally through an online domain.
The app’s domain was deactivated with the help of Hostinger, a domain service provider. The communication was carried out through their official contact. Police officials confirmed that similar action was being taken against other illegal apps and websites promoting online gambling. The process to get them blocked through the Centre was already underway.
Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain appealed to the public to stay away from such platforms. “These betting apps lure people with the promise of quick and easy money. Many fall into the trap, lose their savings and end up in deep mental stress. In extreme cases, people even take drastic steps like suicide. It’s not just illegal—it’s dangerous for society,” he said.
He added that not only the operators but also the users of such illegal apps would face punishment under the newly implemented Haryana Gambling Regulation Act, 2025. “The law applies equally to everyone involved, whether they are managing the app or simply using it for placing bets,” he stated firmly.
The Fatehabad police have urged all citizens to avoid any involvement in online betting and spread awareness among family and community members. They stressed that anyone with information about suspicious gambling activities should report it immediately to the nearest police station or contact the cybercrime helpline.
