Father-son duo gets life term for murder
Verdict delivered within 18 months of FIR; 18 witnesses examined during trial
A court of Additional Sessions Judge Dr Nandita Kaushik in Kaithal has sentenced a man and his son to life imprisonment in a murder case, delivering the verdict just one-and-a-half years after the FIR was registered.
Providing details, Kuldeep Garg, Assistant District Attorney (ADA), said a case under Sections 302, 506, and 34 of the IPC was registered at Kalayat police station on March 25, 2024, against Raju and his juvenile son for the murder of Amit Kumar, Raju’s brother. The crime, he said, stemmed from a land dispute in Balu village, where the victim was stabbed to death.
“The court has sentenced rigorous imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 each under the sections related to murder, while under Section 506, the convicts have been sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 each,” Garg said.
He added that all sentences will run concurrently.
During the trial, the prosecution examined 18 witnesses to establish the guilt of the accused, Garg added.
