The police have arrested a father-son duo on the charge of murdering a 30-year-old man, who was reportedly in a relationship with the girl of the family, in Bhiwani’s Kairu village on Friday last.
The youth identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Bhiwani’s Lohani village and the 21-year-old girl of Kairu village belong to different castes. Both belonged to the Scheduled Caste category.
Sunil and the girl came in contact at a self-help group (SHG), where they worked, the police have said.
On Friday, the girl returned home late in the evening, upsetting her parents. She was reprimanded and forced to make a call to Sunil, asking him to reach Kairu village immediately.
When Sunil reached Kairu, the girl’s father and brother waylaid him on the outskirts of the village and allegedly stabbed him, leaving him in a critical condition on the road.
Sunil managed to call his brother Anil Kumar, who took him to the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak. Sunil died during treatment on Sunday.
Tosham police station SHO Dalbir Singh said the police had registered a case of murder against girl’s father Jai Naryana and brother Sampooran on Anil’s complaint under Section 302 of the IPC. The SHO said the accused were arrested from their home and sent to one day’s police remand.
