Financial inclusion drive at panchayat level in Rohtak from July 1
Rohtak Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Narendra Kumar has directed the bankers to open zero-balance bank accounts of those residents who do not have any bank account during the financial inclusion campaign to be run at the panchayat level from July 1 to September 30, 2025.
“Organise camps at villages to ensure that a zero-balance account of every person deprived of a bank account is opened,” the ADC told the bankers at a district-level consultative meeting held at the auditorium of the local Mini-Secretariat on Tuesday.
Rohtak Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pradeep Kaushik, District Development and Panchayat Officer Rajpal Chahal, LDM Mahabir Prasad and representatives of various banks were present at the meeting.
Chairing the meeting, ADC Narendra Kumar said the accounts opened under the Jan Dhan Yojana lying inoperative should also be reactivated.
“Bank accounts of all residents who still do not have any bank account should be opened so that there is transparency in financial transactions and the beneficiaries can get direct benefits of public welfare schemes and government facilities,”
he said.
The ADC directed the bankers to ensure the availability of the necessary equipment such as computers and printers etc at the camps so that the residents did not face any inconvenience.
He stated that under this campaign, the bankers would organise camps at every Gram Panchayat of the district and ensure the participation of all eligible villagers in all schemes being run under
financial inclusion.
“Under the campaign, opening of Jan Dhan accounts on zero balance, re-opening of inactive accounts, registration of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana should be done on the spot,” he asserted.
Zila Parishad CEO Kaushik said under the campaign for financial inclusion at the panchayat level, the coordination of bankers with the gram panchayats would be ensured so as to ensure the success of the campaign.
He asked District Development and Panchayat Officer Rajpal Chahal to organise a meeting of all sarpanches of the district before the
campaign began.
He said the LDM should also ensure that if the Jan-Dhan bank account of any person had become inactive due to any reason, then these accounts should be activated by getting the KYC of such persons on the spot so that the direct benefit of the public welfare schemes of the government continued to be received.
