The Rohtak Municipal Corporation has lodged an FIR against 64 commercial establishments that had put up unauthorised hoardings/posters/flex boards, and failed to pay fines amounting to Rs 10 lakh imposed on them.
The FIR has been registered under Section 3A of the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. Dr Anand Kumar Sharma, Commissioner, said the MC had appealed to the owners/managers of all commercial establishments not to put up hoardings, etc., in the city, failing which fines would be imposed on them and the expenses incurred on the removal of these would also be recovered from them.
Following that, the enforcement wing of the MC identified those who had put up illegal hoardings and took action against them under the Act and Advertisement Policy. They were issued challans and told to pay the fines immediately.
"However, 64 of them did not pay the fines within the stipulated time, due to which an FIR has been lodged against them," the Commissioner said.
The MC is running a campaign to remove illegal hoardings, etc., from main roads and public places. "Our teams are identifying the violators and taking legal action against them," he said, adding that hoardings and posters could be put up on authorised sites only after obtaining due permission from the MC.
