Goods worth lakhs were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out at a footwear soles manufacturing unit in the Modern Industrial Estate (MIE) area of Bahadurgarh town on Monday. Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, sources claimed that one of the factory sheds was severely damaged in the flames.

The fire reportedly started in the morning, coinciding with the arrival of workers at the facility. Fortunately, all workers managed to evacuate safely on noticing the fire. They also succeeded in removing several drums containing flammable chemicals from the premises, potentially preventing a much larger disaster.

The factory, which manufactures shoe components using various industrial chemicals, saw the fire spread rapidly due to the presence of these substances. Fire tenders from Bahadurgarh reached the site quickly, aided by additional fire engines summoned from Jhajjar and Rohtak, due to the intensity of the blaze. It took several hours of rigorous efforts by the fire brigade teams to bring the situation under control.

The factory is situated near the local fire station and power house, allowing for a timely emergency response. Despite this, the magnitude of the fire made fire-fighting operations extremely challenging. A senior official from the Department of Fire said investigations were underway to determine the source of the fire. “At this point, the cause remains unclear,” the official stated.
